Mrs. Gilleran, Your Instructor

I live down the road from Ann Arbor, Michigan, home of the University of Michigan and more importantly the Wolverines. I received my BS degree in Mathematics from Wayne State University and my MBA degree from Lawrence Tech University. I taught high school mathematics until I became enamored with computers. I joined Ford Motor Company and became a manager in their Information Technology Division.

I never got involved in designing any cars but I was on the joint task force with Carnegie Mellon in the design of a diagnostic system that plugged into a car in the service bay of the car dealership. It was designed to find problems with the electronic engine controls. Now that was exciting! Working in Information Technology allowed me to get involved in many different facets of engineering, finance and scientific research all within one company.

Nathan Chi, Your Teaching Assistant

Hi!  My name is Nathan Chi, and I’m a 10th grader from Cupertino, CA.  I’m excited to be part of this class and can’t wait to begin!

Outside of academics, I enjoy music, 4-H, taekwondo, and photography.  I play three instruments—piano, violin, and organ.  I just earned my black belt in taekwondo.  I also really enjoy playing with our family goldendoodles.  It’s really fun to play ball with them in our neighborhood!  In photography, I enjoy taking macro (close-up) photos of flowers and animals, because it’s really interesting to see a different point of view.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Benjamin Furness
, Your Teaching Assistant

Hi, I'm Benjamin Furness, and I'm really excited to be a TA for AP Calculus this year!

I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my 4 siblings. I am 16 years old, and I will be a junior this year. My two sisters have taken this class before, and I'm ready to follow their lead. I love math, and I can't wait for the challenges of Calculus. This was my first AP class and also my first class with PA Homeschoolers.

I love playing sports especially basketball and soccer. I also love following pretty much all sports, rooting for Detroit teams along with Michigan. Go blue! I have had fun also doing some drama throughout the past few years.

I love playing the piano and saxophone. I have played both instruments for a while. I also started playing the base guitar recently which has been really awesome!

DKri Diya Krishnan, Your Teaching Assistant

Salvete! Greetings! I am Diya. I am 14 years old.

I have played violin since the age of 5 and hope to perform in a concert soon. I love playing The Four Seasons, and my favorite violinist is Sarah Chang.  In fact, I started learning violin after listening to one of her concerts.  But I also like listening to the other music genres. When it comes to sports, I play tennis, even though I haven't competed in a tournament yet. I am a big fan of mystery and fantasy novels, and currently it is the classics by Agatha Christie. Other favorite activities are exploring the world through google maps and the housing market through Zillow.

I also volunteer for Kids Adopt A Shelter, where we help shelters and individuals with pet supplies.   You can follow us on https://www.facebook.com/KidsAdoptaShelter/

I'm looking forward to a great year!

Kevin Lin, Your Teaching Assistant

Justin Peterson, Your Teaching Assistant

Hi! I'm Justin Peterson. I'm a senior living in Carmel, Indiana (it's close to Indianapolis). I like math a lot and intend to major in it while at university. I recognize a fair amount of the other names in this class, so if I've taken a class with you already then hello again! If I haven't, it's nice to meet you.

David Roth, Your Teaching Assistant

My name is David Roth. I live in Peosta, Iowa. I am a senior this year. I have one older brother, Michael, and two adorable puppies, Snoopy and Lucy. I play baseball during the Summer and do bowling during the Winter. Some of my hobbies include reading, playing with my dogs, and gaming. I’ve always been interested in math since I was little, so I’m looking forward to being a TA for this class.

Danny Stone, Your Teaching Assistant

My name is Gregory Daniel Stone, and I am seventeen years old.  My parents are missionaries in Guatemala, and therefore I live in Guatemala.  Since kindergarten, I have been homeschooled with the A Beka Academy video streaming service and curriculum.  I have not yet decided what profession I would like to pursue; however, I love music (especially Charlie Puth’s “Voicenotes” album), playing the piano and guitar, mathematics (especially geometry), and videogames (especially “Splatoon 2”):  So, I might become either a musician, a mathematics teacher, or a gamer (I think all three).  I am excited to be a TA for AP Calculus this schoolyear!

Emily Zhang, Your Teaching Assistant

My name is Emily Zhang. I am 16 years old and I am going into junior year. I live in a very intense and loving family that values education. I am a competitive figure skater as well. I have two national titles and compete internationally representing the USA. I spend most of my day at the rink training 4 to five hours on ice and another 2 hours off the ice. It is very tiring, but I love this sport.

My goals in life are to earn an international title in figure skating, and also graduate high school and go to college and earn a M.D or a PhD. I want to go to medical school and my goal is to go to John Hopkins University.
